10th IIFA Awards Begins
Bollywood celebrities and technicians will cast their votes for the tenth IIFA awards in the city beginning on March 6.
The first voter would be megastar Amitabh Bachhan, patron for the IIFA.
Mr Manmohan Shetty, Producer and IIFA Advisory Board member said in a release said, ''IIFA has grown into an event of repute over the last 9 years and this year being the 10th year of IIFA, the celebrations will be bigger.'' At the IIFA Voting Weekend, the only Awards where the entire film Industry comes to vote with the Technical Award winners, the Popular Award nominations are derived from voting.
While the technical awards would be directly selected through the voting process to be held on March 6, 7 and 8, the nominees for the popular categories such as best film, best director and best actors would be put for further voting by the people through an online voting system, according to a spokesperson for Wizcraft, which organises IFFA weekends.
Auditing firm PriceWaterhouseCooper, which had been been auditing the popular awards with more than a million people casting their votes, would audit the online voting to decide the final winners this year also.
Wizcraft had not changed PWC, which had been at the receiving end for their involvement in the Satyam financial scam.
Commenting on the voting process actor Arjun Rampal said, ''the IIFA Voting process is a very credible one where the entire film industry comes into vote over a Weekend only to learn the results at the main Awards night. I have visited IIFA before and have even played at the IIFA charity match. I am very excited about casting my vote this year especially cause my movies may just be nominated.'' The IIFA awards is likely to be held in June and spread over four days. The venue country is yet to be decided.
