Jackie Shroff returns to loot a BANK:jackie return
When was the last time Jackie Shroff starred in a notable film and was acclaimed for a memorable performance? Well, keep thinking because even we are left wondering about this for years now. While big films like EKLAVYA and BHAGAM BHAG have seen him in miniscule roles, smaller films like AUR PAPPU PAAS HO GAYA, HUMSEY HAI JAHAAN and THODI LIFE THODA MAGIC have come and gone without making any impression whatsoever.
Now count BANK (yes, that's the title of a film) in his ever-growing list of inconsequential films which is aiming at hitting the screens this Friday. If one look at near 5 minutes promo of this 'bank robbery' film is any indication, BANK is all set to be yet another blot in the career of Jaggu dada who was once a name to reckon with. B Grade cinema at it's best with poor acting, shoddy cinematography and slip-shod editing (at least as apparent in the promo); BANK appears to be a user manual on how to continue creating potholes in your own career!
BANK is about a group of 6 individuals with different sensibilities who come together to loot a bank (OCEAN'S 11 anyone?) Apart from Jackie Shroff who is an obvious mastermind of the entire operation, BANK also sees Late Raghuvaran coming along with Abbas (from South), Rahul Dev and two leading ladies Pooja Bharathi and Veda. Less said about the 'item numbers' that the two girls perform on the better! Also, Jackie hardly looks like the man who he used to be once upon the time as he appears all haggard and completely disinterested in the proceedings around him.
A film about which nothing has been known in the past and nothing would be talked about even in days or weeks to come, BANK is produced and directed by Arun Kumar. Apparently he has made the film in three languages - Telugu, Tamil and Hindi - and is seeing a reasonably wide release down South this Friday
